When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
LynnMarie’s Review
Perfect Chemistry is a classic good girl, bad boy romance. However, this book is far from ordinary. Alternating between Alex's and Brittany's first person POV, we get to see into both of their worlds.
Brittany is wealthy, beautiful, and...perfect. But her perfect appearance masks a girl filled with pain on the inside. She desperately wants to be accepted, and tries to hide the fact that her sister has medical issues and her mother is all about appearances. The last person in the world she would hook up with, would be the latino thug, Alex.
Alex grew up poor, surrounded by gang violence, peer pressure and loss. Raised by a single mother, he attends school and tries to teach his younger brothers to follow the right path. When he's partnered up the blonde-haired, manicured, Brittany, he's attracted to her, but would never date someone like her. They're from two different worlds. They hate each other. But sometimes opposites can attract.
I loved how we got deep into the heads of each character. The romance was cute, slow evolving, and powerful once realized. There is romance, drama, suspense, and humor in this special young adult romance. Bring the first of a trilogy, I anxiously look forward to reading the next edition, Rules of Attraction.
If you enjoy Young Adult romance, as a teenager or adult, Perfect Chemistry is one you don't want to miss!
