Yadkny’s Review

Lelandi is a red wolf shifter and part of a set of triplets. Her sister Larissa ran away from her abusive mate and wound up dead a short time later from an apparent suicide. Their brother Leidolf has gone rogue in the hopes of starting his own pack, but who knows where he is. The triplets’ parents are presumed dead from a car accident, but Lelandi knows better and figures it to be an inside pack job due to both Larissa’s and her disappearance. Now she is left to figure out the why’s, how’s, and where’s of it all.

Lelandi begins with her sister’s suicide and while in the process of avenging her death begins to unravel the double life her sister had been leading with another mate. Darien isn’t just any mate though, he’s the Alpha of a gray wolf pack and doesn’t want Lelandi sniffing around in his business or that of his dead mates, but he can't help the emotions she stirs. The townspeople aren’t very welcoming either and she quickly becomes the center of some much-unwanted attention. Now it isn’t just about avenging her sisters death, but what happened during that mysterious time when Larissa disappeared and started living a double life. Attempts on Leilandi’s own life aren’t going to stop her from discovering the truth, but attempts on her heart are an entirely different matter.

In this second book to Terry Spear's Werewolf series, we are introduced to a few more paranormal elements that add a little more spice to the story. Dream mating makes an appearance as we learn that while wolves may search for their mate their whole lives there is another way to become mated to the one you’re supposed to be with. Albeit this way isn’t entirely satisfying for either party, but it certainly adds a unique quality to the story. A human psychic also makes an appearance and throws unexpected twists into the already thick plot of our main characters.

With a sprinkle of comedic relief moments throughout this heavily suspenseful story, the reader will never be bored between character or scene changes, all of which flow from one tension filled moment to the next beautifully. Again, imagery plays a major role and readers will love how Terry Spear masters that element. Whats more is her mastery to keep the reader guessing all the way to end where the murderer is revealed during a Thanksgiving feast.

Recommended reading for those who don't mind playing a little game of Clue while reading about those who believe in avenging the ones you love.
