He rode into town to buy supplies, not a woman.

For hunted recluse Rafe McBride, the raven-haired beauty on the auction block is exactly what he doesn't need. A dependent woman will be another clue his vengeful stepbrother can use to find and kill him. But Rafe's conscience won't let him leave another innocent's virginity to the riff-raff bidding. He buys her, promising to return her to St. Louis untouched. He only prays the impending blizzard holds off before her sultry beauty breaks his willpower.

She wanted freedom, not a lover.

Whisked to the auction block by her devious, gambling cousin, and then sold into the arms of a gorgeous stranger, outspoken artist Maggie Monroe isn't about to go meekly. Especially when the rugged mountain man looks like sin and danger rolled into one. But a blizzard and temptation thrust them together, and Maggie yearns to explore her smoldering passion for Rafe.

But when the snow clears, will the danger and secrets that surround Rafe and Maggie tear them apart?

Monica's Review

I will start off with a great quote from the book “You’re everything to me. You’re my life. You’re my redemption.”

This is a powerful book from beginning to end, with endless moments of suspense. This books starts off with Maggie’s cousin trying to auction her off to pay off his gambling debt. I would just die; imagine back in the 1860’s the types of sick crazy psycho men out there at that time. The setting is in Colorado where there is endless snow in the winter time. Then, worst of all, Maggie is with a man that has just bought her like she was a rag doll. As I started reading this book I started to fall in love with the characters, I found myself with tears in my eyes and my stomach in knots. I just could not put this book down because you just want to see how Rafe and Maggie will be able to be happy with a man hunting down Rafe and a crazy psycho of a cousin after Maggie.

Rafe first appears like a total ass because of how he treats Maggie, but then again he can’t let any of the men that are ready to buy her have her. Rafe is a good guy, loving, caring and strong and able to hold his own. The only problem is that once he has a taste of Maggie he is totally lost. He can’t keep his hands off of her and loves her to death. The only problem is that she is a city girl can he truly makes her happy and also he needs to remember that there is someone after him. Rafe truly means well but his past haunts him and he needs to understand that he did the correct thing.

What can I say about Maggie, she is a feisty woman. I love how she keeps Rafe’s on his toes at all times and how she is able to just make him tick. She knows when to battle with him and when to keep her mouth shut but it’s not that often. Maggie is a beautiful woman that has dreams and will sacrifice everything in order to make her future a reality. I love how no matter how much she has fallen in love with Rafe she has a firm belief that she does not want to get married to any man because she will not be told what to do, no one will boss her around. After time has gone by the more she falls in love with Rafe the more she tries to stall in going back home to St. Louis not only out of love but also because coming out of hiding will place Rafe in danger. She will do anything in order to keep him safe.

After the first time that Maggie gives her virginity up to Rafe it is so magical for her. That is the moment that Rafe is enthralled with her and will not let anything happen to her. What is so funny is that after that it seems that they cannot keep their hands off of each other. They are like bunnies at every opportunity they get. They have so much chemistry that it sucked me in. I love how gentle Rafe is with her and how passionate he can be. Maggie can also be a little feisty in bed and will test Rafe and taunt him like crazy.

This is a wonderful romance and the characters that come to play in the story work well together. I would love to read more about Rafe and his mom, how about Maggie was she able to make her dream come true and how about them returning back to Colorado. Will all their dreams come true? I truly enjoyed reading this story and recommend it to anyone that loves to read a good romance story with a little of suspense into it.
