Blurb

As vampire Evande Austin tries to adjust to her newfound abilities, she can’t fight her new reality. She never intended to fall in love with two men. But she also never intended to take Fae blood to keep her alive either. Trouble lurks in the shadows and Evande fears she will not be able to control the raging blood fever that burns through her because of Quinn. Thanks to Logan, the man who gives her anchor, Evande is able to maintain a thread of sanity in the blinding chaos.

When the Elders strike out and her future tumbles around her feet, Evande realizes the two men give her a bond she is unable to survive without. They need her just as much as she needs them. Giving into them both could just be the one thing that saves everyone.

But one thing remains clear—nothing comes without a cost.

Dodie's Review

I was completely lost for the first 40 pages or so. I know that this was the third book in a series, but you should be able to pick up anywhere in the series and not be completely lost. The best series just make you want to hunt down the first books. In that, and in that alone, Sara Brookes fell short. Once I figured out which way was up, and who was who, I really enjoyed this book. Evande is clearly a complicated, powerful female, with a lot on her plate, and who takes the responsibilities of the world on her shoulders. She's stepped into a wonderful, complicated situation with Quinn and Logan, which by her nature she tends to make more complicated. This is something I can completely relate to. Logan and Quin are powerful alpha men in their own rights, which should make this a love triangle that doesn't work at all, but it does.

The action scenes deliver, giving you a real sense of the battle. The sex scenes sizzle, right off the page. The overarching battle between Evande and her friends and the Elders is both intriguing and suspenseful. Go read the first two in this series and then pick this one up, I suspect you'll love it. If you've read the first two, I don't know what you're waiting for.
