Ashlee Morrison has a secret obsession—with a dark and mysterious male. The only problem is that he’s a wolf and she’s becoming convinced that she’s insane. But Ashlee’s wolf is no ordinary canine; he is Tristan Kane, third son in the royal family of the Westervelt Wolf pack.
Trapped in his wolf form by his evil father’s men, Tristan has desperately sought a way out of predicament and is shocked to find that the sad but beautiful redhead who has come to the wolf cage can not only hear him, but awakens in him the knowledge that she is his mate, the other half of his soul.

Ashlee, unaware that she is half wolf-shifter, agrees to accompany Tristan back to his pack in Maine to seek answers to her past and understand her future. But as Tristan and Ashlee grow closer, familial betrayals will threaten to destroy the fragile love they have started to build.

With the odds stacked against them, Ashlee and Tristan will either embrace their love to save the Westervelt Wolves or be lost forever to despair.

LynnMarie’s Review

Ashlee thinks she’s going crazy. She hears voices coming from the wolf’s den where she works, but brushes them aside until one day she decides to speak back. Once the wolf knows she can hear him, everything changes and a rollercoaster ride to return Tristan, the wolf, back to a human, begins.

When Tristan realizes that Ashlee is his mate, he’s thrilled and can’t wait to get into his human form. A spell has been cast on him by his evil father and he needs the pack’s magic to heal him. Removing the spell is only half the battle. His new mate doesn’t know she’s half wolf shifter.

I enjoyed the variety of characters in the book and look forward to future installments of The Westervelt Wolves where we’ll get to know other characters in greater detail. The book closes after giving us a glimpse into a future mating that looks promising. Ashlee was a likeable heroine with the right amount of strength and vulnerability. Once she embraces her gifts, she shows that she’s capable of anything, especially when it comes to her love of Tristan.  Rebecca Royce created a believable world with its own set of rules that kept my interest.

Though the book dragged slightly in the middle, the plot picked up when Tristan became affected by the same spell that turned his father from Alpha to crazed killer. The love Ashlee and Tristan feel for each other is strong. Though the heat level is low in this paranormal romance, it doesn’t take away from the passion felt by the characters.

If you enjoy paranormal romance with wolf shifters, danger, suspense and magic, you’ll have to get your copy of Her Wolf. It’s the first book in The Westervelt Wolves series, which is bound to get even better!
