Betty loves Will with all her heart and can’t wait to marry him. But her happiness is dampened when her father makes the assumption that she’s in a family way.

Betty’s career has always meant the world to her, but now she has the chance to have a family, something she never thought possible. Will Betty be able to figure out a way to balance a family and a career? Or will the traditionalism of the 50’s make her pick one?

Kris’ Review

You know when you get to the end of a happily ever after romance, and you wonder what happens next. Pink Petal Books started a series of free reads called ‘Just Married’ which is a quick read of what happens after the book ends. Bound By Love is essentially the sequel to Ms. Jonstone’s debut novel ‘Something More’. Once you read Bound By Love, it makes you want to read ‘Something More’ and find out exactly how Betty and Will fell in love.

The story of Betty Lewis and Will Walker takes place back circa 1950 when woman settled down, got married and had children. Wives didn’t work after the children came. Betty Lewis, a head nurse, is a working woman who lives in an apartment with her friend and co-worker Helen. Betty has a history of clashing with her pragmatic and stern father when she decided to pursue her career and moved out of the house. So when Betty accepts Will’s marriage proposal, her father is anything but happy. He never liked Will when Betty knew him a decade earlier in high school.

But Will Walker is not that same stupid teenager. He’s matured and gone through college and is now a doctor at the hospital where Betty works. The Will from high school is not the same Will that has fallen in love with Betty and proposed. He’ll make a good living, provide for Betty and their eventual family. But Betty’s father wants none of it. He refuses to discuss the upcoming nuptials especially after he assumes that Betty is in the family way when they talk about getting married in a couple of months. After that disastrous dinner, neither Betty nor her father will back down.

Is it possible to get her father to love Will and support their decision to marry? You’ll have to read the book to see. And then you’ll have to read “Something More” to find out how Will and Betty fell in love. Reading ‘Bound By Love” has me downloading Something More. Bound by Love earns four Tea Cups and a heat rating 2.
