R&B sensation Sharayna “Rayne” Piers lives a life dedicated to her music. On stage and in the studio, she pours her heart and soul into the lyrics of her songs. But every since her twentieth birthday, her seemingly normal life has taken a turn to the dark side.

Piercing screams and horrid visions of horrendous acts of murder haunt her night and day. Women similar to her in age are vanishing all over the world without a trace, leaving Rayne wondering if the mass of disappearances are connected with her visions.

Soon she will discover that the world she was raised in is just a cover to what really hides in the shadows, and that her life as a human is a deception to mankind, a guise to conceal her true nature. Will she shun the darkness that has befallen her or step up to the throne to become what she was created to be…the Dragon Queen?

Dodie's Review

I had a really hard time getting into this book. Reflecting back on it, it had to have more to do with outside influences than any deficiencies in the book. Right from the beginning Rayne is a heroine who is full of life and her personality shines from the page from the beginning. Gigantic kudos go to Yvonne Nicolas for not making the hero the first man that Rayne meets in the book, or even the first man she has sex with. I love it when authors break conventions and turn formulaic writing on its head.

Rayne ends up on a confusing ride with double whammys of self discovery and unconventional new love. Rayne is forced to confront a number of hard truths about herself and her heritage; things that have been hidden from her her whole life. Rayne takes the revelations about her life in stride, instead of being bitter and upset about the amount of subterfuge in her life.

Yvonne Nicolas overlays a fabulous paranormal world over our own; one filled with demons and dragons, vampires and werewolves. Her world is populated with complicated, fascinating people. People that have hot, steamy sex. If you like erotic paranormal romance, read this book.
