Abigail Carter lost her firefighter husband on September 11th. On a mission to heal her heart, she starts a new life in the prairies of Wyoming. Her neighbor, hunky rancher and quarter horse expert Chase Wilder, makes her heart race for the first time in years, but will she let him get close enough to warm the cold winter nights?

Chase rescues Abby from her overturned car in an accident similar to the one that took his wife. His dormant libido goes into overdrive when he looks into Abby's beautiful green eyes. Unfortunately, she's still struggling with her grief, and Chase doesn't want to push her. Can the two find a way to overcome the past and have a future together?

Lena’s Review

Abigail Carter just lost her soul mate, or so she thinks. She was married to a great man.  Firefighter, Joshua Carter, was her life until September 11th. Now she is trying to get her life back to normal, really trying, but things are hard right now. She never expected to see him again or have Josh say her real love is in Wyoming very nearby. Only her mother understands what she is going through, yet she feels lost.

Abigail never expected to meet rancher, Chase Wilder. Josh seems to be on her side making her see that love still does exist, at least she hopes it still does. Chase is the first man that has set her on fire which just makes her feel like she’s cheating on Josh. Even though he tells her to continue on she is still insecure. Chase is definitely the man that seems right for her in every way, like she’s coming home again. Is he the man for her?

Chase Wilder has been living in his ranch hiding. Everyone around him views him as a recluse. Since his wife died, he has been like a hermit always working, and never enjoying life. Somehow though, fate has intervened in his life and brought Abigail Carter. Now here is a woman who is feisty, stubborn and the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. For once in the last three years he feels alive. Chase knows that Abby is still in love with her dead husband, yet he loves her more each day. Though Chase is ready to fall in love again, someone in his past doesn’t want them together. Each day with Abby is making him see what has been missing in his life and that’s love. With Abby, he sees things in a new light, and the passion between them is unforgettable. Can he convince Abby that his love for her is real?

Oh my God, Sandy Sullivan has an awesome hit with this series. The first in the series and already I’m hooked with her Wilder Series. Instantly, I fell in love with Abby and Chase. Abby is definitely still locked in the past, and in love with her dead husband. As a hero, he was her everything, but now Chase confuses her. I loved that, with Chase, she feels alive, and for the first time really loved. There’s more in this series, with a great Wilder family. Watch out for this author who knows passion in every way. Loved it.
