Intimate Invasion, Book Two

This series is an independent spinoff of the Crimson Carousel series.

Rhys’ abuse as a Setti captive has left him emotionally distant from the conflict raging around him. The last time he trusted a woman, he ended up in a breeding pen on the Setti homeworld.

Frustrated by his son’s determination to keep himself isolated, Xenos sends temptation personified into Rhys’ path. Adara Kinson has proven her allegiance to the Resistance despite her Setti blood. Xenos challenges Adara to find a way beyond Rhys’ reserve and to rekindle the passionate soul Rhys has buried beneath a mountain of responsibility.

Adara thinks of Rhys with fondness and affection. He was gallant during a horrible ordeal and she will always be grateful. She isn’t opposed to flirting with Rhys. He is by far the most attractive man she’s ever met. But her Setti abilities have filled her mind with images of another man, a dark, sometimes frightening being, tormented and alone.

Reader Advisory: Dark and light. How is a woman to choose? Why should she when she can have both in a night of decadence whereby the focus of two very different men is solely on her.

Angelique’s Review

“Forsaken Desire” is a complex, character-driven science fiction romance. Ms. Ross creatively crafts a world that the reader will want to return to with characters that will touch their hearts by the end of the story.

Having not read the first book in this series, I was at a huge disadvantage. While some series you can pick up any book and start reading, this is not one of them. It took me a good ¾ of the way through the story to figure out what was going on. It was not until after reading the third book, “Forced Alliance,” that I really began to understand what was happening and connecting to the characters.

It isn’t very often that I like the hero better than the heroine, but this was one of those instances. Adara is too weak for my taste and her transformation during the book was a bit to drastic. Rhys is the uptight, responsible Alpha man that I love to find in a story. Both are damaged, but it warms the soul when they come together. Doesn’t hurt that the sex is smoking too!

“Forsaken Desire” leaves me wishing I would have read the first book in the Intimate Invasion series.
