Hunter's Review

I absolutely loved this very short story by Bonnie Dee.

Marie is lonely, she’s thirty-two and living in a small town that she loves but where the selection of eligible men is very, very low. She has created a scarecrow and on Halloween when she is feeling particularly despondent, imagines exactly what he would look like and be like if he was real.

Be careful what you wish for.

Although Sam is not well developed, his only real time in the story is very brief and he spends it in Marie’s bed, I loved the story of Marie reaching through impossible odds to find her true love. I loved how gentle he was with her.

This is an impressive short story and a fast read that I can easily recommend.
