Human trafficking. One of the most prolific and profitable businesses in the world and growing every day. But that's only in third world countries, right?

Isabella Donnelley finds out the answer the hard way--through personal experience--when she is drugged at a friend’s house and transported from Denver, Colorado, to Stoney Creek, Virginia, to be sold to a crime boss as a sex slave.

She puts her life in the hands of a man she finds intensely attractive but also distrusts. Now she must rely on him to keep her safe from her pursuing abductors--and maybe from him, too.

Wyatt Bowman, former-cop-turned-detective, is assigned to the Task Force of Human Trafficking. Sparks fly when a young and beautiful woman bursts into his house. But what neither one of them counted on was how much their lives would change.

Monica's Review

Human Trafficking……….

Deadly Deception is a story of suspense, mystery, murder, and love. This story reaches out and grabs the reader into the world of human trafficking in the United States; it opens the door to a world that is thought to be only being done in the third world country instead of your own backyard. An intriguing mystery of how a normal woman and or male can lure you to believe that they are your friend and just like that in a second can take away everything you have and throw away the key. While danger lurks around Isabella, it is a little too late before she realizes she is no longer in Denver but now in a total different state ready to be handed over to some thug that will be using her as a sex slave. What makes this book worth reading, in addition to the fabulous story line, is the quality of writing.

Confer does an amazing job with the characters of this book. You have Isabella who is the victim of this story. Isabella is a woman that really keeps to herself, does not have too many friends, really does not date but has had a troubled past. Isabella is strong-willed when the situation arises but will it be enough for her to survive being kidnapped and ready to be sold as a sex slave?

Wyatt is detective and his expertise will come in handy after someone breaks into his home and seeks refuge. Wyatt is a handsome man that has his own skeletons in the closet that will make him understand that he needs to help Isabella from the people that are after her. Wyatt needs to make sure that he confronts his own past in order to proceed with a future with Isabella if she also can heal from her own past. The romance is heartfelt and heartbreaking that will leave you with tears in your eyes from the amount of pain each character has been inflicted. The way Isabella and Wyatt eye each other with so much desire, tenderness, and love that they will bring tears to your eyes when they finally make love to each other. They care about each other but one single little lie can change everything no matter how much they have fallen for each other.
