Blurb

When death tracks her every move, dare she trust a man with his own elusive secrets?

Determined to piece together the shattered remains of her life, world-renowned artist, JJ Frost fled halfway across the country to the inviting township of Sutter Hollow. She soon discovers the town holds shocking mysteries…and unexpected monsters. A series of brutal murders takes the peaceful community by surprise, and murmurs of sinister creatures dance on the night wind. The killer leaves bizarre clues as he fixates his deadly obsession on JJ, and, once again, she must face her nightmares come to life. Can she trust the town’s irresistible lawman to protect her from this enigmatic zealot’s warped sense of duty, or will the sheriff’s own secrets prove more than she can endure?

Sheriff Cameron Walker tracks the Apostle, a twisted serial killer who reveals the citizens of Sutter Hollow’s dark secrets—one biblical Deadly Sin at a time. Soon the darkest secret of all—Cam's own hidden heritage—is threatened with exposure. When Cam stumbles upon the mysterious, alluring newcomer skulking in the woods near the scene of a brutal homicide, JJ Frost’s haunting eyes and backbone of steel sparks his pagan instincts on a frightening level. Cam has justifiable reasons to mistrust the ancient legend of imprinting and does everything in his power to fight the primal attraction he feels for JJ. But time is running out and the killer is closing in. Will the Apostle claim her as his next victim before Cam can make this encompassing decision and come to terms with his fate?

Mary's Review

JJ Frost has never forgotten the day her sister died. It was the day her life ended and now it is time for a new beginning. Yet even though she has sworn she would live each day as it goes the past still haunts her. JJ has no idea why her ex-brother-in-law went crazy but knows her sister didn’t deserve to die. Now that she has somewhat come to grips she is determined to make a new life in Sutter Hollow. Yet a day in Sutter’s Hollow is just another day that gorgeous and sexy sheriff Cameron Walker makes her feel alive. She has no time for love or even sex at this time but the sheriff is definitely one piece of sex she wouldn’t mind. JJ knows that she would never feel normal again but being with Cameron she feels’s whole. Not only is he the first man to get under her skin but she feels love and cherished with him. He says he is his woman but how much of a woman she can can when she is still afraid of her own shadow.

Sheriff Cameron Walker protects his citizens no matter what happens. So the rise of new murders baffles him. As a protector he has made sure none of his citizens get hurt but the killer has tricked him. Cameron has no idea who it is but someone who calls himself The Apostle. As long as he has lived he has never seen such gruesome murders and knows it is not the end to come. Having JJ move in Sutter Hollow is not what he needs right now for right away he knows his mate has come home. Something about her makes him want her more than anything he has wanted in his life. She has a scent that drives him wild yet a vulnerability that brings out his protectiveness towards her. Cameron knows something haunts her but has no idea how to help her. JJ says she can handle it but he knows without him she is lost. Can he protect his mate before the Apostle finds her? Can he stop the Apostle from killing another Sutter Hollow citizen?

JJ and Cameron two people who are both hiding something in this suspense novel by Brenda Huber. JJ just wants to have a normal life without fear of her own shadow. Now Cameron is a sheriff who is trying so hard to hide his real identity yet protecting a whole town from a killer. When these two get together it is beyond sexual combustion for these two are in their own world together. I loved that Brenda created such a killer like the Apostle it is so imaginative and clever the way she created him. These two together against him is definitely worth reading. Brenda did a great job of the suspense for each person in the book is a suspect but the real Apostle will blow you away. Not only have that but once JJ finds out about Cameron it is all going lost every way. Definitely a great book by Brenda and can’t wait for more.
