Two magic wielding warriors (M/F) are torn apart by betrayal, imprisonment, and torture. When a magical heart that formerly belonged to them comes up on the auction block, both fight to win it. Major Marcus (Ren) Renniger was betrayed on a mission and became a POW. All fingers point to the woman he loved. Captain Tait Boland was told Ren had died. Unable to believe it, she set out to find the truth and exact revenge on the man who stole Ren from her. Her revenge comes at the cost of her freedom and her spirit.
Six years later, Ren and Tait have both escaped imprisonment. When they meet at Spellbound Treasure because of the heart, their passions explode. For Tait, knowing that her lover is alive fills her with bittersweet elation. Broken in body and spirit, she knows she has nothing left to give him. Seeing Tait so changed strikes fear in Ren’s heart. He sets out to unravel the mystery surrounding his capture and Tait’s imprisonment. To give her back her future and regain their life together, Ren must figure out how to unbreak Tait’s heart, soul, and spirit.
Clare C's Review
I can’t believe how much action and emotion Ms. Valentine is able to pack into 56 pages. This is not a quick, light read. This is a living thing that sinks its claws into the reader and doesn’t let go. Even when the story ends, the characters and the world stay with you. This is part of the Spellbound Treasures series. You do not have to read the other books in the series to thoroughly love this novella, though I can’t see how you could avoid wanting to devour everything Ms. Valentine has written after experiencing her brand of genius.
Tait and Marcus were separated by horrific betrayals and mad power-plays. The story begins six years after they lost one another. Ms. Valentine goes for the jugular right from the beginning. I think tears came to my eyes twice within the first twenty pages, and I’m not an emotional reader. Once Tait and Marcus are reunited, they must heal each other and bring the persons who betrayed them to justice. Ms. Valentine wastes no time in doing just that, and the happily ever after fits the people Tait and Marcus have become.
This is more than just the story of the healing power of love. It’s about justice, redemption, and strength. The action is just as riveting as the development of the relationship. I can’t wait to read more by Lex Valentine.

OMG. I think you just brought tears to my eyes with this review. I've so been dreading reviews of this book because this heroine and hero aren't perfect and no one (cept maybe Branson) is pretty. I had to tell this story just like I have to tell Branson's and Benedict's, but I wondered if people would like it because it's not a typical romance.
Thank you soooo very much for this. I feel so much better for you having "got" this story. I really appreciate it.
I loved this story!! It's one that I'll read again and again. :)
