Unable to return to the ice planet due to her pregnancy, Mikayla is left on Earth with Lachlan while the rest of her husbands complete their contract. But an unexpected midnight visitor causes concern. He's injured, frightened and offensive, but he's also Matt's twin brother, Bryce.

When Brock is injured and stranded at the bottom of a snow crevice, Lachlan is called back to the ice planet to help rescue his brother. He has no choice but to leave his wife's safety in the hands of a man he barely knows.

But when trouble comes looking for Bryce, will Mikayla end up in the line of fire?

Clare C's Review

In this, the second installment in the A Bride for Eight Brothers series, Mikayla finds herself left behind on Earth while six of her seven husbands return to the ice planet to finish their contract. She isn’t allowed to go because pregnant women have been outlawed on that world. One night, a surprise eighth brother shows up on her doorstep looking a little worse for the wear. So far, this serial has set up a kidnapping ring and now they may have to watch out for some crime lords coming after them. I’m anxious to read the remainder of the stories to find out how all of this is resolved.

We get to see Mikayla once again use her innate sweetness to bring the brothers together and to mend emotional wounds. My only complaint is that there are several times when important action is summarized. I felt Blake missed several opportunities to create tension, both of the sexual and suspenseful varieties. However, she did a great job developing the beginning of Mikayla’s relationship with Bryce.

This novella was just as good as the first one. It introduces Bryce, Matt’s twin brother that nobody ever mentioned, as the black sheep of the family. The writing flows smoothly. Ms. Blake’s style is friendly and light. It’s a feel-good read, good for an afternoon when you just want to get away from it all for a while.
