Nadja Mederios knows what she wants after months of watching Donato keep order at Club Mist, and an intervention from her best friend Taleena. As a lounge singer, she portrays a sensual, sultry woman, but she’s not the high-maintenance girl people assume she is. In fact, a tomboy lies beneath her protective costume. When the real woman comes to light, she hopes Donato finds her just as sexy as the mask.

Donato Falcone isn’t looking for commitment, but when someone touches Nadja without permission, rational thought leaves him and rage steps in. After his temper cools, he sees a different side of Nadja. Her sleek sophistication may well be a front for the girl who could be his forever, if he can find a way to break down her barriers.

Monica’s Review

Mahalia Levey does a good job writing this short story about how a women's low self esteem can stir problems in her life. A very true quote from the book confirms that no matter what don't change anything for anyone, if they don't like you for whom you are tough luck, "Any man who doesn't love you for yourself can piss off." Levey portrays this so well in her characters.

Levey's characters are so real. You have your hard ass man, Donato Falcone, a military man who served his country. Now running owner of his uncles club has the authority of overlooking his new possession and certainly his employees. You have your tomboy female singer, Nadja Mederios, whom after a rough relationship has left her with a low self-esteem about her self and her love life. Even friends can't seem to break Nadja down.

Levey does good writing on how a little push in the right direction is all you need to no longer feel so insecure about who you really are as a person and especially as someone's lover. No matter what there is someone out there that will love you whether you are a tomboy or a girly girly as written in the book, never lose hope.

A defense attorney working for Cameron, Cameron & LaSalle, P.C., Alisha Carrington, hasn’t dated anyone since she was betrayed by her fiancé. Too afraid to risk her heart again, she has vowed to dedicate her life to building her career. Unbeknownst to Alisha, she has caught the eye of two very powerful men, Tristan Cameron and James Langston.

Tristan is more than a drop-dead gorgeous attorney. Undercover for the FBI, he has been using his family’s law practice in Atlanta as his front. Although he loves women, his undercover work is just too dangerous for him to commit to one woman. Summoned to New York by his brother, Tristan comes face-to-face with the one woman who can make him rethink his vows against commitment—Alisha. He’s tried to resist his attraction to the sexy African-American for years, but when Alisha’s life is threatened, he vows to keep her safe…and the powers-that-be help them both.

Lena’s Review

Alisha Carrington is a woman who has worked for her career and won’t let any man make her feel dumb. As the only African American woman in the law firm she has to worker harder than ever. She knows she is beautiful but never intended for one of the male attorneys to be obsessed with her. Just when she thinks she’s being harassed, another man enters in her life. Not just any man, but one of the owners of the law firm. The man who she has tried to ignore every time he visits for she gets easily turned on by none other than Tristan Cameron. Just seeing Tristan makes her feel all womanly—something she hasn’t felt for a long time. She knows the man who wants her will do anything he can to get her but she won’t hide from fear. This is something that she must stay strong but with Tristan she wants to run to him. Can she trust Tristan Cameron with her life when it might be over?

Tristan Cameron has ignored New York for a reason and that is because of Alisha Carrington. Something about this woman makes him feel all possessive, something he’s never felt before in a woman. Coming to New York was just to help his brother in the law firm not to succumb to Alisha's beauty. Knowing that an evil person wants her is just the breaking point of making him stay forever. Alisha has come to mean something to him and it scares him. Being with her is making him see that love might be possible even for a man like him. His brothers think he is a man who has no feelings just running on anger and adrenaline. Yet with Alisha he wants to be something else. Can he be the man she needs to protect, love and cherish her?

This is the first book I have read by this author, Serenity King. Simply Beautiful is more than its title for it is about a man finding love and feeling love for the first time. I loved that this was more of Tristan than the heroine, Alisha. This man is a man who is all about being the Alpha, the one in charge at all times. Yet I loved it when Alisha comes into his life and he’s all confused about what to do in his life. These two together were definitely worth reading from beginning to the end. The passion between them was hotter than ever in each chapter. This is definitely a book by Serenity King you don’t want to miss and it shows what kind of imagination she has.  Loved it!
