A Former Rodeo Queen

Josie Turner spends her days at the local dog grooming shop pampering the pooches of Angel Springs, Texas. When rodeo season rolls around again, the townfolk are excited about who their new Rodeo Queen might be. Josie, on the other hand, finds herself reminded all too often about a night she'd just as soon forget.

A Former Rodeo Cowboy

Luke Anderson lived for three things – riding, roping and rodeos. Until the day he met Josie Turner, the girl who gave his life meaning, and whose heart he was destined to break. Now, ten years later, he returns to Angel Springs to find the town hasn't changed much, but the girl he left behind has become a stranger he hardly recognizes. What, he wonders, will she think of him, and the man he’s become?

A Rodeo Weekend

Determined to break through the wall Josie has erected around her heart, Luke must face his demons while at the same time helping Josie overcome hers. With the whole town cheering them on, can Luke mend Josie’s heart and can one rodeo weekend help them both find redemption?

Lena’s Review

Ten years...Ten years and the man has come back on the week of the tragedy. A tragedy that Josie Turner has tried to forget so many times, yet in a city that thrives on Rodeo Pageants it is hard to forget. It was the week all her dreams came true. She was honored as Queen of the Rodeo Pageant and her boyfriend, Lucas Anderson proposed to her. The week that Josie Turner was to be married to the man of her dreams, but like a wimp he ran away without any reason. Now that he is back Josie is determined to try to be friends with him, yet the past seems to be around them all the time. All she wants is an answer to his abandonment ten years ago. With her best friend participating in the Rodeo she has no choice but to participate as well, considering she was the last woman to be named Queen of Angel Springs. She must participate but she knows that she will not succumb to Lucas' seduction again in winning her back. Can she keep her heart from falling in love with the man again?

He was born a cowboy, knew how to ride a horse when he was five years old, but life through a curve ball in his life. Ten years ago he proposed to the most beautiful woman of his dreams, but broke her heart as well. Lucas Anderson has no idea why he came back, but knows with God on his side, he will try to make things right. He always knew that Josie Turner was the one for him but something arose in his life to make run away from her love. Back then he knew she wouldn’t understand, but now that he is back, he is struggling how to tell her his real reason. Ten years ago he was able to ride a horse, rodeo, and able to talk to Josie but now he is afraid. Can he put all his fears aside and trust in God to lead him to the right path? Can he be courageous and face the past and Josie?

God works in mysterious ways, like in ways of making our eyes open to see what we missed and lost in our lives. For Lucas Anderson he had a choice to either make Josie suffer in pain or leave and see her build a life for her own. A choice, that now years later, he knew was wrong to make without her permission. Seeing her again he knows that he made a huge mistake.

I loved that here is a man who knows the mistakes he did and put it all in God’s hands to get things right. These two still love each other and yet are stubborn to admit they still do. Teri Wilson did a beautiful job in the first of a series that is funny, intriguing and all about second chances. The dogs in the story are great to read about and you will fall in love with them like Remedy, Josie’s pug. Great job!
